Jeffrey Rothwell, after whom the firm takes its name, joined the firm as an articled clerk just as the Second World War started, during which period he served in the Navy.

During the Second World War, the firm survived in collaboration with other Solicitors practices, who came together to support each other. On Jeffrey Rothwell’s return to Salford, he initially practiced as J.J. Rothwell & Co.

In about 1960, David Evans joined the firm, and it became Rothwell & Evans as it is now. Both Jeffrey Rothwell and David Evans had successful legal careers outside the firm also, Jeffrey Rothwell practising as a Coroner and David Evans as a District Judge. Our Swinton office was opened in the 1960’s, and our Sale office was opened in 1976. The firm no longer deals with criminal law, and the Salford office has now closed.
